Symbolism, Art Nouveau, Surrealism, Pittura, Metaphysica. These art-historical terms are often used to describe Herbert Fröhlich's works.
The artist from Rodgau has been working with oil painting since 1985. He gradually works intensively on his given subject matter until it finally corresponds to his ideas.
In his paintings, Fröhlich places interiors, architecture, landscapes and people in surreal relationships with each other – even in still lifes.
For him, a second mysterious reality is hidden behind the visible things.

Excerpt from a gallery report (Crelala)
Herbert Fröhlich takes his viewers, among other things, into the primeval forest, where thousands of eyes peer out from the undergrowth and thicket. Thanks to the painter's imagination and artistic skill, one can almost hear the sounds of the jungle and its inhabitants and smile. One must first immerse oneself in his unique, unmistakably "Fröhlich" style. The surrealist-Dadaist scenes of nature and fragments of existence testify to humor. They reflect a joy for diversity. The color contrasts are sharp, the colors intense. "Colorful" is not a good term; we learned it from artists, and yet when we think of Herbert Fröhlich, the word "COLORFUL" springs to mind, and it definitely doesn't have a bad connotation. Colorful diversity and cheerfulness, a touch of warning and a call to vigilance, like the light signals of traffic lights or signposts, Herbert Fröhlich creates special, unique works.
