“The aim of art is not to depict reality,
but the creation of one's own world." - Fernando Botero
This quote reflects the essence of our art community "Artists in Motion": United by our shared passion for art, we came together more than seven years ago on March 1, 2018, as the art community "KiB - Artists on the Boulevard." Our created world thrives on the multitude of our artists, the diversity of our painting techniques, and the abundance of painting media in which our artists express their creativity.
Initially, the artworks of our ten founding members could be admired in the boulevard at Ludwigsplatz. Just over three weeks after the founding of our community, a large number of visitors marveled at the works of twelve painters and two sculptors at our opening vernissage on March 25, 2018.
We took the move of our gallery to the Carree in Darmstadt on July 1, 2021, after just over three years, as an opportunity to give our art community the characteristic name "KiB - Artists in Motion."

Second location of our art gallery in the Carree in Darmstadt until 11.11.2023
Up to this point, we have been able to host more than 70 guest artists exhibiting their works of art with us for two to three months each.
On November 11, 2023, we decided to open an online gallery to stay in tune with the times. To date, our artists' works can be found there. Fortunately, as artists in motion, this allows us to invest our time in planning and organizing regular exhibitions at various venues, thereby even enabling direct artistic exchange with almost all of our eleven artists. Furthermore, our visitors can enjoy a constant flow of new art. For all art lovers who want to see some of our artists' work outside of our exhibitions, we maintain a permanent showcase near Luisenplatz in Darmstadt.

Search for a new location / New beginning from 1.5.2025 with seven KiB artists
Our gallery in the Carree was ranked among the 10 best in Darmstadt. Unfortunately, we had to vacate the gallery at the end of 2023 because the investor planned to professionally renovate the long-vacant space we had occupied, which we had previously filled with life, art, and community.
Since the gallery closed, we've been lacking a permanent location. With our "Gallery on Tour," we organize art exhibitions in the greater Darmstadt area, true to our logo "Artists in Motion"—we want to keep the art community together.
We are currently guests at the Griesheim Cultural Association from April 26th to May 4th, 2025.
To stay on top of the latest trends, we've launched our online gallery on the KiB website, featuring our artists' latest works. This also includes a new website design and a fresh, modern newsletter.
These measures are intended to ensure a future for the KiB artists' community. A team of initiatives has quickly developed a concept for a new beginning, in which six of the current ten KiB members have expressed interest.
On May 1, 2025, the time has come: six original KiB artists and our new member Paul Alexander Heigel will be part of the relaunch of KiB 2.0. This will usher in a generational change while preserving the spirit behind KiB—namely, creating a space for community, creativity, and sustainable cultural work through the inclusion of guest artists.
An important step is the upcoming leasing of an additional shop window in the arcades of Rheinstrasse, which will thus develop into a new art mile in Darmstadt's city centre.
We will inform our newsletter subscribers shortly about the opening of the KiB Gallery showcase.
