I was born in 1968 in Darmstadt and live and work in Griesheim. I only discovered drawing later in life. I first worked as a chef, then spent many years working in prototype model-making. When I took early retirement for health reasons in 2015, I began drawing. Despite being red-green colour-blind, I love working with bold colours. I’ve always loved painting. However, for a time I lost my enjoyment of art. At school, painting felt more like a burden than a beloved companion. The rigid institutional framework, with its systematic approaches and regular assessments, affected my relationship with art. Academic achievement and fitting neatly into the curriculum took priority. A few years ago, I rediscovered art and set off on a journey of exploration. With childlike joy and the freedom of a self-taught artist, I let my creativity and emotions play in the digital world. I’m always looking for something new and enjoy combining familiar elements to bring shapes and colours to the digital canvas in fresh aesthetic harmony. Born in 1954, he lives in Groß-Gerau. For over 40 years, he worked as an employee at a large company in Darmstadt. He only took up painting and drawing by chance in 2000. Some time later, he took lessons in the fundamentals of perspective and three-dimensional representation. Since then, he has continued to develop his skills. When painting with acrylics, he likes to blend colours wet-on-wet directly on the canvas. He uses fineliners for his drawings, creating shadows with dense hatching. I used to describe myself as a “paint-when-needed” artist. That meant whenever I needed a picture—for the hallway, the living room, or wherever—I would paint one and hang it up. Now that I’m retired and have more time, painting has become a great passion of mine, alongside working with soapstone. I started painting about 15 years ago. Through numerous courses and painting trips, especially to France and Italy, I’ve developed my skills and gathered inspiration from many subjects and impressions. After exploring several painting techniques, I’ve recently focused on oil painting. My style is expressive and full of colour—I especially enjoy working on large canvases. Born in 1957 in Kelkheim /Ts.. I attended high school in Königstein, and painting has always been my great passion. Nevertheless, after graduating I chose to study mathematics in Darmstadt, completing my degree in 1982. While looking for a suitable job, I attended Freie Kunstschule Darmstadt from 1983 to 1985, where I learned the fundamentals of drawing and painting under the guidance of Michael Schlösser and Beate Koslowski. The main focus of my work is expressive, abstract and atmospheric landscapes, pared back to the essentials and created in acrylics and mixed media. Nothing inspires me as much as nature itself. Inspired by the dynamic moods of the sky, the expanses, light and atmosphere of mostly northern landscapes, I create paintings intuitively using a wide range of materials and media.
